Rosa’s view on men

So, I promised to take Abigail to see that old killer in C-Max. I must have an essentially weak personality. I was determined not to do it and now I’ve promised to do it. Sometimes, I feel ashamed.

I discussed the matter of my weak personality with Rosa and she said that it was nonsense. She says I have a perfectly sound personality – for a man.

“What does that mean?” I asked her.

“Well, men often weaken when confronted by temptation. But by male standards you have a reasonable strong character – above average I would say.”

“I am appalled by your sexist view of the matter,” I told her, doing my best to sound appalled.

“You’re not appalled Yudel. You don’t even know how to be appalled. I’ve never known you to be appalled once in your life. You take everything as it comes. So, don’t tell me how appalled you are.”

This is such a female approach to a discussion. She changed the subject so radically that I never got so far as really talking about what was bothering me – the possibility – quite real, I think – that I have a weak character. Maybe I’ll take it up with her again tomorrow.
