Wessel Ebersohn’s fifth rule of thriller writing

Your must have good characters. If possible they should be believable, but above all they must hold the attention. Any character that bores the reader may be responsible for that reader putting down the book. And you do not want a reader putting down the book ever. If a thriller is really good, many people will read it in a single sitting. Part of what keeps them reading is a cast of fascinating and attractive characters.
